Legacy 5K

My kids had been super excited about doing the Legacy Spring Sprint 5K since they heard about it.

For a month I heard, "Mommy will you fill out the form so we can do the 5K?" 

Hayden has been doing running club at school so he wanted to run.  He took off and I never saw him until the end of the race.  His time was 36.40.  Go Hayden!

Parker started off running, too.  At about the 1.5 mile mark I caught up with him and we walked the rest of the way together.  It was a cool morning with a few sprinkles along our 3.2 mile journey.  We had such a good visit just walking and talking.

I'm proud of us for making it through!  We were all sore the next day but it was fun and I'm glad I got to be with my boys.

Ecuador Update: What God Can Do In A Week...

It's been exactly one week since I announced my missions trip to Ecuador.  Let me tell you about what God can do in one week...

Meet Ethan, a soon to be 10 year old...

Ethan will be having his birthday party this Saturday.  Instead of his friends bringing gifts for him they will be bringing toothbrushes, small tubes of toothpaste, crayons and small toys that he will send with me to Ecuador!  He had told his mom he wanted to do this and really wanted to help someone going on a mission trip.  What a boy!

Meet my friend, Sara...Zumba instructor extraordinaire...

I got this text from Sara last night...

"Once a month one night of

zumba will b

Exercise 4 Ecuador & all

proceeds going to ur trip"

Sara teaches Zumba at Airline Baptist Church every Monday night at 6pm.  It's $5 per class and each class is about an hour long.  The hour flies by and it doesn't feel like exercise.  The third Monday night of each month will be Exercise 4 Ecuador night and all the money raised that night will go to my Ecuador trip.

Etching for Ecuador Update...

In 7 days I have received 16 orders for etchings and had $50 donated. I have lots of people interested in helping and it will be no time before I have raised the $2000 needed to get to Ecuador! Etching for Ecuador-How you can help

So...you already know I'm going to Ecuador in August...

but guess what????  This is NOT free.  I think it should be free if you want to go and tell someone about Jesus.  In my ideal world purchasing my plane ticket would go a little something like this...

ME:  Hi...I need a plane ticket to Ecuador so I can tell people about Jesus.
AIRLINE:  Mrs. Mills...that will be FREE and we will have your tickets sent to your e-mail in a few hours.  Thanks for sharing God's love with others.  Oh, and you know the whole security/body scanner thing?  You can bypass that, too!

Ahhhh...If only it were that easy. 

I need to raise $2000 to go to Ecuador.  God laid an idea on my heart...etch glass to raise money for your mission trip to Ecuador.  And so...

Etching for Ecuador was born.

If I can etch 50 pieces of glass and sell them for $50 each then I will have my cost covered for the baking dishes and the trip paid for completely.

Ecuador...Mission Possible!

I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, niece, great aunt, cousin, granddaughter, daughter-in-law, pastor's wife, Cubbie's leader, office manager, washer of dishes and laundry, Sunday school member, missionary...Eeeek, HOLD.UP!  Go back one...did I just write missionary?  I think I did.  How did this happen?

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! Psalm 96:3

I didn't even know where Ecuador was located when I mentioned to Dr. Bailey that God was calling me to go on a mission trip.  He said, "Come, go to Ecuador with me!"  Ummm...okay.  I should probably figure out where that is.  Do you know?  Let me show you...

Right there on the west side of South America...to its north is Columbia, to the south is Peru and to the east is Brazil.

I have never in a million years contemplated Ecuador or any of the other countries mentioned above.  Isn't that only for adventurous people like those on the Amazing Race?

I'm not adventurous at all.  I did zip line once a few years ago but my most adventurous events now occur at Walmart.  Y'all it's scary in there!

My first hurdle in this adventure was to find out the dates of the trip.  Dr. Bailey had said it would be early August but he didn't have exact dates.  My prayer was that it would be AFTER the boys were in school.  I didn't want to put anyone in a bind to watch the boys during the day.  At the time, we didn't know when school was starting so it was a big question.  God, please let this be taken care of so I can go without worry.  Dr. Bailey shared the trip dates of August 10-18 and I knew it would be close to school starting.  That exact evening a teacher friend said, "They just put up dates for school to start."  She checked and it was August 9.  Okay, God I hear you.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation...Mark 16:15

I'm scared and excited all at the same time but I know God has called me to take this trip to Ecuador with Dr. Bailey and the team he is putting together. It is considered a medical missions trip and I could possibly be doing triage, working in the pharmacy, handing out reading glasses or working Vacation Bible School....or maybe a little bit of it all. Sharing God's love while we care for His people. We will be in the mountains of Ecuador and it will be cold-ish. What a welcome relief from the Louisiana August heat!

We will fly into Quito and stay at Camp Chacauco during our time in Ecuador.  Please start praying now for the team that will be going.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8
